Angela Del Moral Olivera
Memorial   Obituary   Guest Book

Angela Del Moral Olivera , world renown Spanish dancer, Head of the SGI's International Coalition of Artists and beloved wife of the late Pascual Olivera, passed away shortly after 4:25 PDT and on Tuesday, July 25, 2006 in Jaen, Spain. Angela was diagnosed with leukemia a month before her passing. She remained in high spirits and received expert care in Spain at that time. Two weeks before her death, her condition declined, however she remained asleep during that time, free of pain or discomfort.

From SGI President Daisaku Ikeda and Mrs. Ikeda

We express our heartfelt condolences on the passing of Mrs. Angela Olivera. Our hearts share the pain of all those who loved her. Upon learning of her death, we immediately began sending daimoku for her peace and happiness.

Together with her husband, Pascual, who passed away three years ago, the two of them presented a spectacular drama of human beauty and strength as true believers of Buddhism and great artists of the Mystic Law.

Through Angela?s graceful dance, countless comrades around the world
learned how wonderful, how beautiful and how lofty it is to live out their
lives to fulfill their individual missions.

Angela's victorious and happy smile has been forever engraved in our
hearts. There is no doubt that her life will continue to exude brilliance
throughout the three existences of past, present and future, as she has departed for Eagle Peak, proving clearly the validity of the Buddhist
principles of "changing poison into medicine" and "changing one's destiny."

She dauntlessly fought every form of obstacle and devilish force with her passionate seeking spirit. The dramatic way she lived her life will be long remembered by many people, shining brightly like the sun in their hearts.

Living within our hearts, Angela, together with Pascual, will be with us
eternally.

With all our hearts we pray for the repose of the great Mrs. Angela
Olivera.

With our palms together in respect,
Daisaku and Kaneko Ikeda

"Her Passing Was Clearly Victorious"

July 25, 2006
Pascual pushed and inspired me, showing me that my limitations were my delusions to be overcome. He befriended me against all odds. We fought and dreamed together for many years.  His victorious passing amazed me, but also broke my heart. And Angela was so sad and honestly seeking following his passing.  She persevered and won.

Now, we have lost Angela from this realm. HER passing was clearly
victorious, too!

My heart aches, but it really seems like Angela had thoroughly
connected with Sensei and encouraged millions with her sincerity and courage. She deserves to reunite with her eternal loves, Pascual and the Gohonzon.

What a great lady Angela was/is.  I'm so fortunate to have known her and to have been touched by her and by Pascual.  I determine to repay my debt of gratitude to them and our mentors.

From the bottom of my heart,

Wish I'd known about Pascual's website before now.  From 1971-76, we were like brother & sister.  I was his transportation to work...he was doing 3-4 shows a night and I'd stay and drive him home.  Often stayed overnight.  In our early days together, Angela was his impossible dream, as he'd tell me about this perfect woman, the only one for him who would never marry him!

When I met my husband & took him to see Pascual perform, we dropped off Pascual at 3:30am.  David kissed me and, although I'd been around the block enough to never run for public office, I heard bells!  I ran back to Pascual's and said, "I think I'm in love!"  Pascual said, "Don't be silly. You're just desperate, like the rest of us!" Then he assured me that one day I will get married, and he promised again to dance at my wedding. And he did, just 7 months AFTER he married Angela (on my b'day!).

Thanks for making the web pages possible.

Warmly,

Sherry

Santa Maria says, "I wrote it as a tribute to Pascual and was honored by having it inspire Angela to dance solo for President Ikeda of SGI."
